A Study on the Liver Function of the Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients Under the hemotherapy

Abstract

|
The author made a study of the liver function tests on 52 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis treated with chemotherapy (SM, INH and PAS).
The over-all rate of the damage of liver function was 23% and it was more marked in the mo_ derate advanced and far advanced cases. It was also more prevalent in patients treated with triple regimen of chemotherapy and in the cases of longer duration of treatment in the order of 12, 24and 36 months. In one case combined with pneumoperitoneum it was less than 20%.
There were no significant differences in the rate of liver damage between chemotherapy group and non-chemotherapy group of pulmonary tuberculosis and when the indication of chemotherapy is carefullly planed there will be significant damage of liver with the chemotherapy in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
